What a weird formation Rafa played this morning!
When defending, it's a 5-4-1 ? When attacking, it's a 3-4-2-1 ? Did they work on that in training...
I mean now that's it's all over and done with with Liverpool securing the win 3-2, and that the key players played only around 20 minutes, meaning they got some rest... It looks good. "Looks".
Well, had Rafa lost the game, questions would have been raised as to why (take a deep breath) Jamie Carragher, Martin Skrtel, Daniel Agger, Andrea Dossena, Alvaro Arbeloa, Fabio Aurelio and Javier Mascherano, more defensive-minded players, all played in the same side!
David N'Gog was below average as usual, Ryan Babel sucked again, missing a chance I would have score 100%.
But the MOTM is definitely Yossi Benayoun. All his running, from right inside forward to right midfielder at times, he threaded so many killer passes, dribbled and took on defenders, and assisted the winning goal! Magnificent performance from Benayoun, helping to take over Steven Gerrard's position for now. Hope he carries that form to the next match in 2 weeks time.
Jose Reina and Carragher definitely had an off-day this morning, so many errors and two for Reina that led to the Portsmouth goals.
Rafa may have picked the wrong team, but at least he had the balls to bring on Xabi Alonso, Dirk Kuyt and Fernando Torres, all of whom was involved in the 3 goals and all who deserve much credit coming off the bench and making instant impacts.
C'mon!
Bye~!
