So its the last day of 2008, the most important year of my life so far. It was my Sec 4 year, it was when I took that all-important 'O' Levels, but I'm glad, I shared this year with so many great people. There might have been many ups and downs throughout this year, and the whole 4 years in Catholic High, that unfortunately came to an end at October.
We started 2008 as 2007 finished, continuing our toiling away, thinking of only one thing, the 'O' Levels. My class were to be 4-4, the class of 2008. We had a few changes in teachers, and also had the previous ones from Sec 3. The most noticeable was our Sec 3 Chinese teacher leaving the school, and that we had our Chinese lessons this year with numerous changes in teachers, and ultimately May came, and we sat for our Chinese 'O's.
I, for one, did not do as well, only getting a B3.. well, it was rather expected, though. But I continued going while giving up Chinese for good. Well, this aren't the important bits this 2008, it was the smaller tiny little moments that were really nice and that I will always remember.
I particularly enjoy the numerous football we played, and I'm sure many would have enjoyed it also. Whether after school, after remedials, before extra lessons, after CCA meetings, it was always fun. Our home ground we called "Stamford Bridge", well, it was the Primary School assembly area, was a really nice place to play at, even though the ground was kinda uneven.
When we played as a class, we had some good games against my own CCA select, and we also did have some beating from other classes. But overall, it was a very good experience playing with you all. And I'll apologise if I went overboard with my ranting and shouting at some of ya, or was overzealous, and got too carried away in the game.
The Regulars: Jeffrey, Kelvin, Shanwei, Seiyee, Samuel, Sebastian, Aaron, Gideon.
The Occasionals: Jie Chou, Perry.
And of course, the ones from iMedia as well.
Ervin, Michael A., Joshua, Xi Jie, Shawn Teo, Kenneth, Donovan, Hua Peng, Jit Hin and some of the juniors.
Some notable opponents...
Goalkeeping duo Gregory and Dannel. Those from class 4-2.
The many times we studied together was great as well. From the study area, classroom to even the canteen, I'm sure we all benefitted from studying with each other. If not, it'd be a little too boring right? The daily routine of having to wait in long queues during recess just to buy our food. That sucks, but it was a good time to chat
luh and talk cock.
Getting ourselves into and running away from trouble. Defying the teachers. Coming back late for our lessons, standing outside, for Maths and English class. Those times sucked, but it was a little fun.
Bishan Market must also be like our second eating place. Bubble tea, hawker way.. it was another great place and time to talk and eat, something I believe we'll all miss now that we don't have much of a chance to go back there.
Hanging around, almost daily, at the General Office during morning assembly! Haha, we really drove Mr Teng nuts, I think. And our endless complaints at everything...
Our last minute mugging for each subject a day before that respective subject's exam... It was kinda funny the way we chionged at the eleventh hour and how much we slacked weeks before, thinking about how much time we had. Luckily for us, we learnt our lesson in time for the 'O's, and studied hard a few months before the actual 'O's.
The last few weeks of having to stay in the hall to do work, check prelim scripts, was so sian, I believe everyone shared that view as well. Having to come to school at 7am almost everyday for English a month before the 'O's was real shitty, but I hope it at least benefitted us.
There are still many other moments that I can't remember at this time, but it will definitely not be forgotten...
And how could I forget, those that has helped me make this 2008 a real fun, entertaining and meaningful year...
Shanwei - "Bung" must be the word of your year. And you really have helped us in general with your jokes and laughter.
Aaron - I do not regret having to sit with you for almost two years. Although sometimes you are a little ass, I think you are a very nice person to have as a friend, and a seat partner... =)
Perry - Even though we had much indifferences in Sec 1 and 2, I'm glad we're much better friends now.
Seiyee - Forgive me if I'm a little ass at times, but I am grateful to have you as a friend, and your tolerance with me is impeccable.
Manfred - Haha, even though I've talked to you more around the second half of the year, thanks for the listening ear, it was helpful.
2008 may be ending in less than 10 hours time, but it has been a magnificent year for me, and I hope for you guys as well. 'O's results are coming out in around 2-3 weeks... So good luck! And I really hope that we do not lose contact of each other. You've all just been so great.
My song of the 2008? Hmm... Paramore's
That's What You Get, I guess...
Bye~!
