The end of the road has dawned for Liverpool Football Club. After conceding in the first half of extra time from a Frank Lampard penalty conversion and a Didier Drogba smash-in, Liverpool were denied a penalty of their own after having Sami Hyypia kicked three times in the penalty box. Ryan Babel sealed a consolation, but... it was that. It was just a consolation. Sigh... Nothing to look forward to until next August, or to support Spain in the Euro 2008. Support the likes of Xabi Alonso, Alvaro Arbeloa, Jose Reina and Fernando Torres!

So congrats Avram Grant. You, indeed are the Special One. It was always Rafa Benitez 2-0 Jose Mourinho, and now in your first try, it's Rafa Benitez 0-1 Avram Grant, not bad, albeit some bit of luck. Ryan Babel's goal was nice. Petr Cech was looking at £30 million flop/goal-line clearer/ex-forward Andriy Shevchenko about to come on when Babel hit his sweet 50 yard shot.
