The quality of Liverpool's trophy in that huge trophy cabinet is going down. It was at the highest time during 2005, when they won the UEFA Champions League. Sadly, its gone spiraling down. Its not that I'm saying the FA Cup is not as good, although true... Its just that more trophies are needed. One trophy per season is not good enough, especially this seasons' trophy. Here's the list of trophy wins under Spanish manager Rafael Benitez.:
2004/05 - UEFA Champions League 2005 - (W 3-3, 3-2 on pens.) A.C. Milan
2005/06 - FA Cup 2006 - (W 3-3, 3-1 on pens.) West Ham United
2006/07 -
Community Shield 2007 - (W 2-1) Chelsea
As its clear for all to see, Liverpool only won the Community Shield this season!!! They won 2-1 against Chelsea, with goals from Peter Crouch and John Arne Riise. Sadly this season, as everyone knew, Liverpool lost 2-1 to A.C. Milan, again, in the UEFA Champions League final, it could have all been different. But you see, from the top prize in European football, to the oldest cup in England, to a one-off competition match, where profits went to charity. Hmm... I was hoping 2006/07 would have a English Premier League 2007... But it wasn't meant to be, then the Carling Cup and FA Cup double shot against Arsenal, proved to be Liverpool's lowest moment this season, losing 6-3 and 3-1 respectively... And yes... The 6-3 wasn't a penalty shoot-out, Liverpool got thrashed, due largely to Julio Baptista's four goals. Sian... Well I'm still hoping the American owners can bring some sort of success back to the Red of Merseyside. English Premiership trophy must go back to Liverpool sooner than later. Heh...
Bye~!
