Here's another reason to support my opinion to drop Frank Lampard off England. He's 27 (that's not one of the reasons), he can only play in Central Midfield. He can't tackle
nuts, he can only have his long hard hit-and-hope drives against the opponent's goal. The balance for the England midfield should be that Aaron Lennon and Stewart Downing, or Joe Cole more favourably, on the flanks, while Owen Hargreaves sits back and Steven Gerrard in the central playmaking area. Gerrard's midfield play is much better and that he is definitely more versatile, if any of the England midfielders get caught out of position, he'll be a good cover. He can tackle, unlike Lampard, he can drive from long range and that he has a good range of passing, whether long or short. He can also sit back if Owen Hargreaves suddenly wants to strive forward. Gerrard is much more helpful and useful than Frank Lampard.
2 goals in World Cup plus good displays so far in the European Championship Qualifiers for England, an example in the ratings above, he can play at full-backs, on either wings and any central midfield area, and does a good job.
Kick Lampard,
keep John Terry as captain, and put Gerrard in the center. Plain and simple.
Bye~!
