mascherano

Name: Javier MASCHERANO
Club: Liverpool FC (on loan from West Ham Utd)
Squad No.: 20
Age: 22
Country: Argentina
Former Clubs: West Ham, Corinthians, River Plate
Position: Defensive Midfielder
Competitive Games: 72 (before Arsenal game)
So this is Javier Mascherano, a little smaller built than Mohamed Sissoko. He's an Argentine World Cup defensive midfielder. The thing that makes him a
lil' better than Sissoko is that, he can distribute the ball better than Sissoko. He is in the mould of Chelsea's French defensive midfield legend Claude Makelele.
Makelele is also quite small size but he does a good job for Chelsea, and once for Real Madrid C.F. Javier Mascherano was very good tonight, against Arsenal, where Liverpool thrashed them 4-1, to have revenge against Arsenal, who beaten them 3 times already this season, 3-0, 3-1 and 6-3. Javier Mascherano had some great tackles to break up Arsenal's attacking play, and also distributed the ball out well, including the one for Jermaine Pennant that led to Liverpool's fourth, Peter Crouch's hat-trick.
Yeah... Liverpool thrashed Arsenal 4-1 just now. Great game, entertaining stuff. Crouch first hat-trick and Daniel Agger adding another one. William Gallas,
aiya, give Arsenal consolation
lor scully they
cry.
Haha... Just jokin'. Hope Liverpool can continue this fine form against PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League in midweek!
Today I also managed to finish the long-dued English video project with
SY. Do a lot of extravagant scenes. But got it done.
Yeah...Bye~!

Here's another reason to support my opinion to drop Frank Lampard off England. He's 27 (that's not one of the reasons), he can only play in Central Midfield. He can't tackle
nuts, he can only have his long hard hit-and-hope drives against the opponent's goal. The balance for the England midfield should be that Aaron Lennon and Stewart Downing, or Joe Cole more favourably, on the flanks, while Owen Hargreaves sits back and Steven Gerrard in the central playmaking area. Gerrard's midfield play is much better and that he is definitely more versatile, if any of the England midfielders get caught out of position, he'll be a good cover. He can tackle, unlike Lampard, he can drive from long range and that he has a good range of passing, whether long or short. He can also sit back if Owen Hargreaves suddenly wants to strive forward. Gerrard is much more helpful and useful than Frank Lampard.
2 goals in World Cup plus good displays so far in the European Championship Qualifiers for England, an example in the ratings above, he can play at full-backs, on either wings and any central midfield area, and does a good job.
Kick Lampard,
keep John Terry as captain, and put Gerrard in the center. Plain and simple.

command&conquer
So Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars had just came out today, I think. And my older
bro got it. The game was tagged along with a mousepad and some
sorta what they so-called "Frosted Tiberium Bag", well simply, it was just a bag. I think that this newest 'instalment' of Command & Conquer should look
kinda high tech
-y, trying to be as realistic as possible. Here's some
pics of the gamebox and the other
crap, I'll try to get some screenshots of the games that I might play during the weekend or something.:

This is the so-called "
Frosted Tiberium Bag"...
Yeah quite simply its a bag..

The game box of the Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars game. I guess that's Kane in the background...
Isit? No clue whatsoever..

C & C 3 Mousepad!
Yeah I'm using this mousepad right now,
kinda red and damn nice-looking...
Haha!
Yeah Monday's done! It's gonna be a slacky week, "yeah right"...

wembley
Saturday, March 24, 2007
Yeah finally the new Wembley Stadium is opened for its first official non-competitive game, which is England U-21s vs Italy U-21s. The likes of
Leroy Lita,
Ashley Young,
Anton Ferdinand,
David Bentley, James Milner,
Leighton Baines will feel honoured at being the 'firsts' to play in England's national stadium. Most honoured who definitely be England U-21s' captain
Nigel Reo Coker. The Italians, well how should I say, must be very honoured to... You think so?
One notable Italian player, Giorgio Chiellini of Serie B's disgraced club Juventus, would probably line-up against the English, and possibly hope that they might embarrass the English with a win, on England's new home soil.
I got these pictures of the new and old Wembley Stadium.:

This are the old twin towers and the old Wembley stadium, it was torned down in 2002, to make way for the new generation stadium.

This is the new icon and 'trademark' for England's new Wembley stadium, replacing the old Twin Towers.

The interior of the new Wembley Stadium, at its max capacity can fill up to 90,000 people, probably surpassing Old Trafford's max attendance, I think...
Well this new Wembley Stadium is at the high end of stadium capacity and design. It is definitely very high-tech and I feel is the best Stadium in the world currently. And obviously it belongs to England.
Hope the young English players will deliver at the new Wembley stadium, and maybe the English U-21s grab a win! Haha...

weekend
Saturday, March 17, 2007
Its
da weekend!
Haha... Yeah been going out a
lil' lately. Enjoying the last few days of the one-week break.
Kinda relaxing to be able to but the prospect of a ten-week
chioning is daunted. So here's a few pictures, from a 2 megapixel handphone camera, my
o'da bro and I took yesterday and today.:
Yeah this is the ferries wheel that is supposed to be one of the biggest and tallest in the world,
kinda a landmark for Singapore.

And
yeah this is the construction site for the supposed Marina Bay Integrated Resort (IR), wonder what it'll look like when its complete, maybe take an
After picture with this being the
Before...
Haha...
Yeah!!! The eagerly anticipated Command & Conquer 3: Tiberian Wars. See that huge poster covering the whole of one-half of this PC store?
Yeah and my
o'da bro got the Pre-Order Card. Wonder how the game is like, though...
So good luck to all for next term, and hopefully we can have great results and blah blah... ... Huh?!

over
Friday, March 16, 2007
Well... It's over!! Soon, anyway. This freakin' one week so-called 'break' is over, more like freakin' work catch-up to me. So much homework, I probably did not finish all of 'em. Well it's two more days before going back to school. Have to chiong another ten weeks straight. Work, tests, exams and finally the freakin' results. Then it'll be June holidays again. Should be kinda better than this one week, I guess. Anyway... this weekend has Premiership matches again. Good to watch, especially the Man Utd vs Bolton game followed by the Chelsea vs Sheffield United one, surely a cracker, either one or both.
Yeah I had nothing to do yesterday night, got a lil' bored of Football Manager 2007, so I created this line-up of who I think is the best Liverpool players that I have known in recent years. Here's the picture of it.:
So in the No. 1 spot should go to Bruce Grobbelaar, I know you would have thought that I would have considered Jerzy Dudek after his penalty heroics in Istanbul, but Grobbelaar played a vital role too in one of Liverpool's Champions League victory, and he was a lil' more consistent, I think... The whole backline is all the current Liverpool defenders. Steve Finnan, Jamie Carragher, Sami Hyypia and John Arne Riise make up that backline. Steve Finnan was the only right-back that I really knew, and that he is very consistent. Sami Hyypia was a bargain buy and that he is a towering figure and is dominant in the air.
Jamie Carragher is just a defensive rock and anticipates and reads the game so well.
John Arne Riise in left-back, well I just could not think of anyone better,
okay one reason, his left foot has a cracker of a shot.
Steven Gerrard had to be shifted to right midfield to accomedate one more central midfielder, and because there is not anyone that I know of better in right midfield/winger. He is just one of the best, and very versatile and consistent. Jamie Redknapp, former captain, was a great attacking threat in midfield when he was at his best. Between Xabi Alonso and Dietmar Hamann, I had a better impression of Alonso in an attacking sense, so I chose him, but Hamann is also very good and defensively well-rounded. Hard choice, but Alonso gets my nod... Haha! Steve Mcmanaman is definitely the choice for left winger. Nick Barmby could be considered, but Mcmanaman is definitely the best for Liverpool, that I know of, just did not know why he moved to Real Madrid, on a free summore!
Ian Rush and Michael Owen. Best in the business. Rush just freely scored and Owen was a prodigy-turned-natural goalscorer. Both are oozing with goals between 'em. Just the best. Emile Heskey, Nicolas Anelka, Djibril Cisse, Peter Crouch don't even come close! Robbie Fowler, maybe, but Rush is definitely the better choice, alongside Owen.
Hope you do not criticise my choices, but if you do anyway, I do not really mind...
Haha! Hope Liverpool beat Aston Villa on Sunday night...
Yeah...

Wednesday, March 14, 2007
This one week break... Sucks! Literally! It can't be classified as a holiday...
Ooh please... March Holiday sounds like
crap... It should be called March Work Catch-Up Week. Its like this holiday we are bombarded with homework fit for the June Holidays. Well if this continues at this rate I'll be scared to hell when the homework for the June Holidays. It'll probably be four times!
Well I do need to catch-up on my work and too relax. But I just can't find the time for both. It's either I choose one or the other, if both it would not work out. If I chose both, rest and work, I'll not have enough rest and not enough catching-up of work either!
Haha! I really need to read up more on Chemistry as I
SUCK at it.
Hopefully the new term will be much more fun, be able to get better results and
enjoy life better.

stamina
Friday, March 09, 2007
No stamina...
Aaahh...!!! Not playing for three weeks and I have no more stamina already. Last few months I would have tons of stamina even under the hot afternoon sun to play football. But just three weeks without any football in school under the sun has lessen my stamina.
Today after school before going for CCA. I played like around 40 mins plus, I
bang zhe in like 20 mins. I have like no more stamina to play, can't really run, and its only three weeks without playing. I
gotta start playing more in Term 2 to regain that stamina.
Yeah and by the way I feel that Football Manager 2007 should allow us to be able to check whether our players are "Home-grown" (from the clubs' academy)
lah, not just in the list submission for the Champions League.
Well that's all for my dull life. Not much happening just academic
crap...

finals
Well the Champions League quater-finals and semi-finals have been drawn today. So it clears the nervousness and tensions within the teams. Liverpool have the 'easiest' tie against Dutch club PSV Eindhoven, a team they played in the group stages following their 'most difficult' two legged victory against Barcelona. Well if Liverpool go through, which they should, they'll meet either Spain's Valencia CF or Chelsea. Hopefully Valencia wins and play Liverpool in the Semis, not Chelsea, like 2005.
AS Roma meet Manchester United. Francesco Totti and company will hope to knock the treble hopefuls out. Whoever wins that tie would meet sole German team FC Bayern Munich or AC Milan. Remember Milan whooped Bayern a year or two ago?
Yeah... Cracking stuff in the Champions League.
Hopefully Liverpool go all the way and win the cup in Athens on May 23rd. Bye~!

set-pieces
Monday, March 05, 2007
Sorry if you do not like this... But I just have to comment on Liverpool's set plays. For the majority of the time, it's just poor. Let's talk about free-kicks first. This are Liverpool's various methods of free-kick. It works. But most of the time, it doesn't.
1. Lay off for rampaging player to hit at it. Examples are Alonso or Gonzalez laying off for Steven Gerrard or Riise to ram at it, hoping to go in.
2. Curling it around or over the wall towards goal. Examples are Alonso doing so.
Now all of these most of the time fails. It is very unlikely to score but they still do it. What can I say? Now for the corners, that mostly results into a opponent counter-attack or just breaks up.
1. Short passes and tries to pass back to initial crosser, and usually works backwards to bring it back to normal play. Gerrard to Pennant, tries to play it back to Gerrard but works it to Riise.
2. Short passes and 'short-option' player crosses too deep. Gonzalez lays off to Pennant who just crosses to the other flag.
You see, practically all this does not ever work. Rarely it does. But the importance of set-pieces is there in the modern game. Meaning it is important for set-pieces to produce like 15%-20% of the goals. Liverpool are lacking in this and it costs them sometimes in important games.
Improve or it'll be your downfall.

results
Friday, March 02, 2007
What a first term. Much fun and laughter in the class and a great first experience in Secondary 3. My class tests results gave me much hope for good common tests results, but it did not really work out, but I do not really regret, as its only the first of four. So here's my results.:
English: 53/100 C6
Chinese: 57/100 C5
Mathematics: 69/100 B3
Physics: 60/100 B4
Chemistry: 66/100 B3
History: 79/100 A1
Combined Humanities: 63/100 B4
So apparently. If i counted L1R5, I would have gotten, I think, 21 points. Hmm... Not bad for starters.
